As we all look to increase our referral network, don’t overlook the many social, civic, and charitable organizations within your area –like the Lions Club, the Rotary, Special Olympics, and the like. While these organizations and others main focus may not be related to the financial community, their membership usually contains people from various aspects of the financial and small business world. As you interact in a more casual basis, away from the normal business environment, it’s possible that you may find an opportunity or person that you would not normally have been aware of. As you give back to your community/organization with your time and energy, any of these new “opportunities” would be a plus and added benefit from doing your part to assist these groups with their stated goals. But needless to say, the biggest benefit to you is the pride you will have in knowing that you have given time and effort back to worthwhile causes.
